Today we had a fabulous day! We had a lazy morning and slept late! 7:45 AM is late right? Later in the day we went to a good friend's family pool. The water is from a well so it was refreshingly cool. We lunched, talked and watched the children play. Their house is way out in the country so the kids had room to roam. There were swings in a big tree that was storybook perfect. We all enjoyed ourselves!
My friend lives on a big area of land with all of her extended family; the grandparents, their four children and spouses and all of the grand kids. The grand kids are almost like siblings instead of cousins because they are all growing up together. They welcomed us into their day and my kids loved it so much they did not want to leave. Because they are such a big loving family all living together; it made me think of the song by Audio Adrenaline, Big House.
In my imaginings of heaven I wonder if we all will be "living" together in that way-like a big happy family-all siblings of our great God!
Dear God,
Thank you for loving friends who share their lives with me. May we be a support to each other when one needs to lean; a listener when one needs to vent or simply share; a shoulder when one needs to cry; a comrade for adventures; and a prayer warrior when one needs a prayer. In Jesus Name, Amen.
John 14:1-2 (Jesus said) "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you."
Isaiah 65:21 "They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. "
Revelation 21:3-4 "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear form their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

That family spirit is definitely alive and well in OBX this week. There are 19 of us, and it's been quite a non-stop party, especially with 9 of them under 13!
Glad to be able to check in. Saw C.K. and the girls--what a crazy get-together that was! Missing you all in VA, but definitely enjoying a special time.... (Yawn! O, such long fun days!) Take care, you all!
What a nice post today. It sounded a little like my family you were describing. I live next to my parents, brother, and 2 sisters with all of their kids. It is ideal and we are blessed.
I hope my children will appreciate this closeness and want to live in a similar manner. I'm also praying that their spouses will also want such a thing!
Not my will but yours, Lord!!
Happy 4th!
My dad grew up that way. There were 5 houses in a row on one block. In each one there were either aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings, etc. He loves to talk fondly about those days.
He said it was a different world and people don't live like that anymore....sounds like he was mistaken.
Glad you had such a great time.
What a great picture of a wonderful day! And so glad you kids could share in it with the friends.
We're home and glad to be back and looking forward to fun with the Patterson 5 soon.
