Do not love sleep?

Anyone who knows me well knows I love to sleep. Often I dream of sleep while I am awake! I think this all started during my first job after graduation. I worked the night shift 7PM to 7AM. I did not think I ever had, or even could, stay up all night, but I did for almost a year before being promoted to evening shift. I also learned that I could sleep all day too!

Since having children I do not have such luxurious sleep habits. I go to bed late and get up early, longing for my children to want a nap. While having lunch with a friend today we looked over at a nearby table and saw a baby. We oohhed and ahhed. My friend felt secure, in that her tither is full(her family is complete). My comment was only about how a baby would further impede my hope for sleep.

While in study today I found a disturbing or perhaps awakening verse for me. "Do not love sleep, or you will become poor, Open your eyes and you will be satisfied with food." Perhaps this was a wake up call to me from the Lord-saying, "Get up off your dairyaire; stop wishing for sleep; get your work done; go to bed early; and be sure to eat breakfast!" I think I'd better try that!

Dear Jesus,
May I seek out You out first in my life, then all else will fall perfectly into place. I thank you for dividing our day light and night hours so there is a time for work and a time for rest. Keep me focused on the tasks at hand during the day with energy and strength to fullfill them. May my rest at night leave me refreshed and rejuvinated for the day ahead!

Fellowship

Earlier today, my oldest son left for Cub Scout camp. He is so excited about camping with his friends! He was sharing with his brother all the great things he will be doing, archery, swimming, campfires, and cook outs. When we were loading him up to go my youngest son started bawling. He wanted to go too. He usually goes along on every adventure with his older brother. We reasured him that next year he can go. This upset him even more because that is a WHOLE year away.

I was mentally kicking myself because I did not plan anything special for this week for my younger son. Isn't hanging out with me enough? Thankfully one of his best buddies was free and we hosted a "camp in" (the weather man was calling for storms.) These two boys play so well together and are "camping out" in our living room!

God created us to be social beings. We were not meant to be alone. We long for fellowship or companiounship. Once this plan was in motion my middle son was happy and excited once again!

Dear God,
Thank you for opportunities for my children to miss each other when they are separated. May they never take eachother for granted. Thank you for friends who help soothe hurts and who walk along with us on our journey. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Keeping the Oath

Yesterday on chatty Kelly's blog spot http: chattykellly.blogspot.com , she encouraged everyone to dream!

Dream of anything you'd like to be -the sky is the limit! I dreamed about sky diving or maybe rock climbing. I dreamed on during part of the morning while chasing my three blessings.

Their futures are wide open! They are just beginning the journey. The world is at their feet. Sometimes they hope to be a fire fighter, police officer or a pilot. My oldest has mentioned becoming an engineer, like his daddy, working together, and living next door. My middle child has thought of becoming a veterinarian and moving to Antarctica! My youngest wants to be a Mommy, or possibly Barbie, maybe Dora. Their dreams change almost weekly.

Tonight my boys will participate in an Eagle Scout ceremony at our church. Eagle scout is the highest honor awarded in scouting and requires years of work and service in the community. Last night as the boys practiced carrying the troupe's flags and lighting the candles I watched this honored young man's parents. Everything was to be perfect for the ceremony to honor their son's achievement. I watched as all the boys from smallest to highest rank carried out their parts seriously because they knew this was an important day in this young man's life.

This young man's dream, may have begun when he was my boys age, is now a reality. He has kept the oath to serve God and country. He has taken the task set before him seriously and has worked hard to obtain this goal. He too is at the beginning of a journey, as soon he will go on to college, and he will probably continue in a lifetime of service to others. What a proud day for his parents and a proud day for us as we watch our young boys honor a friend.

Dear God,

I am so thankful for the young role models you have placed in the lives of my children. Youth who long to serve You for a lifetime. May my son's dream a dream that includes service to You through serving others. With Your help I know they can achieve anything! In Jesus Name, Amen.
